1. Glowing Shoes
If you’re going out at night and want to stand out, then glowing shoes are the perfect paint project to try. You’ll only need shoes, paint, brushes, and glow-in-the-dark pigment powders of your choice.
Lay down something protective like newspaper, place your shoes on the surface, and start painting. You can use white or colored paint mixed with glow-in-the-dark pigments to add more color and achieve a glowing effect. Paint any design you want onto the shoes, rinsing your brush between colors. Allow the shoes to dry completely before wearing them.
2. Galaxy Bath Bombs
Treat yourself to a spa day at home with a DIY bath bomb that will turn your bathtub into a miniature galaxy. You’ll need a few more supplies with this project, but don’t let that intimidate you. Gather baking soda, cornstarch, citric acid, pigment powder, coconut oil, water, two bowls, two spoons, and a plastic mold.
Pour half a cup of baking soda, a quarter cup of cornstarch, a quarter cup of citric acid, and around half a teaspoon of glow-in-the-dark pigment powder into a bowl. Mix until everything is thoroughly combined and the color evens. In a separate bowl, mix about two teaspoons of coconut oil and half a tablespoon of water. Slowly pour the oil and water combination into the dry ingredients, mixing until thoroughly combined. Squeeze a portion of the mixture into your hand. You know it is done if it crumbs slowly out of your hand. Once it’s done, put it into a plastic mold and let it dry overnight. Release it from the mold by tapping lightly on the sides.
3. Glowing Nail Polish
Nail polish is one of the easiest beauty supplies you can make at home. Making glow-in-the-dark nail polish is just as easy. All you need is an empty nail polish bottle, clear lacquer base, pigment powder, and a toothpick. You can use tinters in addition to the lacquer to add more color, but you don’t have to.
Pour 1/8th teaspoon of glow-in-the-dark pigment powder into the empty nail polish bottle, and then fill the bottle halfway with the clear lacquer base. Mix it with a toothpick inside the bottle until thoroughly combined. Then finish filling up the bottle with the lacquer base and mix again. If you want to use tinters, add a few drops in with the rest of the lacquer base. You can paint plain nails with this polish or cover a colored polish with this glowing topcoat.
