MORE INFORMATION ON OUR COLORSHIFT PIGMENTS
Unfortunately there's no standard calculation when mixing pigments due to the numerous applications, and mediums that our pigments can be used with. I.E. Automotive, Epoxy, Resin, Slime, Candles, Soaps, Fishing Lures, Woodworking, Pen Blanks, Acrylic, Varnish, Clay, Grout, Flooring, Countertops, Cosmetics, Fingernail Polish, etc. the list goes on.
Colorshift pigments have the best results when there's a black base applied.
- For automotive, for best results, first spray a black base and follow with the colorshift over top. Recommend mixing the colorshift with your mid-clear but some choose to mix with their top coat.
- Molds, we are noticing that numerous artists is either putting a black in the mold first and then the colorshift or they are applying the colorshifts with a brush on method.
Other factors are based on the customer. What is the desired look that you're trying to achieve, opaque or transparency?
Our standard for epoxy resin or automotive has been (1) container of our 25 gram pigment powder for every gallon. But, we have seen customers use MUCH less!!
Starting out with 1g of pigment per 8 oz would be a safe start while adding more pigment as needed to achieve your desired outcome.

The right epoxy resin gives you a dependable starting point for coatings, castings, artwork, and custom pieces. This versatile material begins as separate liquid components that react after they are measured and combined. As the mixture cures, it changes from a workable liquid into a hard, durable surface.
A two-part epoxy resin includes a resin component and a hardener component that must be blended according to the product instructions. Accurate measuring and thorough mixing help the chemical reaction occur evenly throughout the project. Following the recommended ratio also reduces the risk of soft spots, sticky areas, and an incomplete cure.
Choose the Right Resin for Your Project
Different projects require different working times, pour depths, and curing schedules. Deep-pour formulas are intended for thicker castings where the material needs more time to release heat and cure properly. Tabletop formulas are useful for coating bars, counters, artwork, and other surfaces that need a smooth, glass-like finish.
Fast-cure options can help when your schedule calls for a shorter turnaround. At Eye Candy Pigments, we carry a 24-hour fast-cure deep-pour option and a one-hour fast-cure resin alongside traditional tabletop and deep-pour products. Review the directions for your selected formula before mixing because working time, maximum pour depth, and cure time may vary.
Consider these details before selecting a formula:
- intended project type
- recommended pour depth
- available working time
- expected curing schedule
- required kit size
A quality clear epoxy resin gives makers a transparent base for showcasing embedded objects, natural wood grain, artwork, or carefully chosen colorants. It can also be left uncolored when a clean, polished appearance is the goal. For colored projects, use pigment pastes and mica powders from Eye Candy Pigments to customize the finished look.

We offer one-gallon, two-gallon, and three-gallon kit options. Choosing an appropriate kit size can help you order enough material without relying on guesswork. You can use our website’s epoxy resin calculator to estimate how much product a project may require.
Good preparation is just as important as selecting the right formula. Keep the workspace clean, confirm that molds or surfaces are ready, and gather measuring and mixing supplies before opening the containers. Working methodically makes it easier to stay within the formula’s usable working time.
Whether you are new to resin or creating professional epoxy projects, Eye Candy Pigments offers supplies for every experience level. The right formula gives you a suitable working time and pour depth for your project. Browse our tabletop, deep-pour, and fast-cure epoxy resin formulas.
